Barbara Ann Corcoran
Barbara Ann Corcoran (born March 10 1949) is an American businesswoman investor and speaker. She is also a consultant, speaker writer, syndicated columnist, television host, and author. The Corcoran Group is a New York City-based real-estate brokerage. In 2001, the company was sold to NRT at $66 million. Corcoran left the company shortly after. Corcoran has participated in 12 episodes of ABC's Shark Tank seasons. Corcoran had signed 53 contracts until February of 2020. Her biggest deal was her $350,000 investment in Coverplay for 40%. Corcoran was born in Edgewater, New Jersey, the second child of 10 in a middle class Irish-Catholic family. Florence, her mother was an errand-taker. Edwin W. Corcoran Jr. became her father throughout Corcoran’s childhood. At times, her family relied on the delivery of food for free from a friendly local grocer. Corcoran recalls her father as one who often was a drinker and was rude to her mother and contempt, particularly when he was drinking. Corcoran struggled in school, and she discovered later that she had dyslexia. Corcoran began the high school system in St. Cecilia High School Englewood after she had left her Catholic elementary school. Corcoran was proficient in several courses during her freshman year. She was transferred to Leonia High School and graduated with a D.
