Kamala Harris
Kamala Devi Harris was born on October 20 1964. She is an American politician. Harris is the first vice president to be female and the highest-ranking female official in U.S. History, as being the first African American and second Asian American vice president. Being a part of the Democratic Party, she was the attorney general of California from 2011 to 2017 and a United States senator representing California in 2017-2021. Harris was born and raised in Oakland, California. Harris started her career at the Alameda County District Attorney's Office. After that, she was enlisted to join the San Francisco District Attorney's Office. In 2003, she was the San Francisco district attorney. Harris was appointed Attorney General of California in 2010, and then elected again in 2014. Harris was the junior United States Senator from California between 2017 and 2021. Harris defeated Loretta Sanchez in the 2016 Senate elections to become the second African American woman, and the first South Asian American, to serve as a senator in the United States Senate. As a senator, she advocated for reforms to healthcare, federal de-scheduling of cannabis, a path to citizenship for immigrants who are not legal as well as the DREAM Act, a ban of assault weapons and progressive tax reform. In the news, attention was paid to her outspoken examination of Trump administration officials during Senate sessions. The most notable was Trump's second Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh who was accused of sexual abuse.
